Details

The Scarlet Groundcover Rose (Rosa) is the earliest-blooming groundcover rose, delivering a spectacular display of red flowers from early spring all the way through the first hard frost. Compact, disease-resistant, and genuinely low-maintenance, this exceptional variety offers a remarkably long season of color that enhances any landscape setting.

Material: Main body is a live compact Rose shrub with dense, well-branched framework and glossy, disease-resistant green foliage. Auxiliary includes nutrient-rich nursery potting soil and a well-developed root system for successful establishment. Accessories include a grower container and detailed planting instructions.

Size: Mature height 304-609mm, crown spread 304-609mm, staying naturally compact without pruning.

Color: Flowers: red; Foliage: green.

Age Group: Adults.

Gender: Unisex.

Additional Features: Hardy to USDA Zones 5-11, thrives in full sun with well-drained soil; highly resistant to black spot and powdery mildew, requires minimal spraying or chemical treatments; self-cleaning variety with petals that drop naturally, eliminating the need for deadheading; ideal for slope stabilization, border edging, mixed perennial fillers, or container planting; strong root system helps prevent soil erosion and anchors the plant securely; attracts bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators throughout the long blooming season; light early-spring pruning maintains optimal shape and vigor.

Care Instructions: Plant in full sun in well-drained soil. Water deeply once a week during the first growing season; established plants are moderately drought tolerant. No deadheading required — spent blooms drop naturally. Prune lightly in early spring, cutting back by one-third to encourage vigorous new growth. Fertilize in early spring and again in midsummer with a rose-specific or balanced fertilizer. Good air circulation helps prevent disease.
